About the institute

Институт Конфуция

Confucius Institutes are created around the world by the Office of the dissemination of Chinese Language Abroad under the Government of China. The first Confucius Institute appeared in 1994 in Seoul (South Korea). Nowadays, there are Confucius Institutes in the United States, Canada, Mexico, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, India, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Brazil and other countries of the world. These institutes are created to enhance mutual understanding between nations, to introduce the history, culture, philosophy, customs and traditions of China. Therefore, in addition to teaching the Chinese language, the Confucius Institute lecturers show films. There are a lot of exhibitions and meetings with representatives of China's intellectuals, academics, politicians and businessmen. Students of the Chinese language courses of the Confucius Institute, that have good results in their studies and successfully pass the HSK exam, are sent to different cities of China for free training.

More than 15 Confucius Institutes were opened in Russia: in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, Kazan, Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk and other cities and towns.

Confucius Institute at Moscow State Linguistic University was inaugurated on March 31, 2011 and on May 6 at the request of the Department of Education of the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation together with the Moscow State Linguistic University conducted a X World contest for students of the Chinese language "Chinese Bridge" for the Moscow region.
